CAD Services
___________________ Technology
The evolution of the firms computer capabilities began in 1987. In an effort to stay competitive in the design markets and meet the demanding time constraints of a client's project schedule, the firm developed a CAD system to address design, production and office related services for all projects and tasks within the design office.
The computer systems started out like so many other design offices, using the computer for obvious office related tasks like word processing and spreadsheets, labeling, etc. and finally to create two dimensional electronic construction documents. The process to customize and program our own software to meet our production needs brought us to the next stage in the evolutionary ladder of architectural software usability in the design firm. Through the use of software such as AutoCad and ArchT, our firm has been able to produce highly accurate drawings leaving little room for construction errors and the need for change orders in the filed during construction.
The greatest savings we have found with these technological advantages comes to all of us in time. The time it takes to coordinate and execute a design and create the construction documents required to begin construction of your project.
The time saved allows the firm to spend more time evaluating the design of the project providing the best design solutions to meet your needs. This also enables the firm to cut down the time to produce highly accurate drawings often by half of what it might have before.
This becomes especially beneficial when last minute design program changes require revisions to many of the documents with little prior notice. This reduction in man-hours to produce drawings also allows the firm to pass on the savings to the client in the cost of our fees and in the time it takes us to produce the construction documents for the project.
Another benefit comes to the design team in the way of coordination. As the architect revises a drawing, the CAD file is passed to all other members of the team. Errors are eliminated and coordination enhanced between the designer's, architects and engineers.
An interesting benefit comes to the client as preliminary or completed plans are released to the client, should the client or their construction management firm be using one of the cost estimation software, the CAD file data may be of great use in estimating and project management of the constructions project. Often, the data required by such software can be incorporated into the CAD file during eh design phase and updated as the plans are completed.
